Shake, Rattle, and Snore

Kerriann, Ripley, and I were wakened by another earthquake this morning. This one hit at 4:42 AM and jarred us out of deep sleep. US Geological Survey says it was a magnitude 4.2 and was located about 4 mi from our house as the crow flies.

Check out the epicenter in relation to our place - our house is the start and the end is the closest intersection to the coordinates provided by the USGS I could get. Mapquest is pretty cool that you can map a place based on latitude and longitude. Now if I could only figure out how to lift the image directly from their website...

Huh... I remember blogging about Hayward Fault, the one four miles from your place, back in May of 2006. I'm glad it wasn't a bigger earthquake and you're all fine.

In other news, Google Maps lets you map things by coordinates, and I'm sure Google Earth does, too. I can't believe you still use MapQuest. That thing used to give me directions down one way streets, so I switched to the almighty Google. Is MapQuest so old it's now cool and retro? You're in CA, I assume you're up with the latest trends...

Oh, and the best way to pull pictures from the internet (besides alt + prt screen, which captures an entire screen shot and saves it to your clipboard) is to download Gadwin Print Screen (http://www.gadwin.com/download/index.htm#PrintScreen). It's freeware. I use it all the time and love it.
